Megan O’Beirne, who has her studio outside Gorey, Co. Wexford, graduated as a mature student in Fine Arts (Painting and Photography) from DLIADT in 2001.
A wide interest in literature, Irish, English, and Italian and some years residence in Italy (researching for an M.A.) are among the bedrock influences in her artistic life.
Since graduating she has co-founded the art group KUBE and has participated in group shows in Garter Lane, Waterford, 2004; Mermaid, Bray, 2003; Tinahely Courthouse, 2003; Wexford Arts Centre, 2003. Two of her paintings were selected recently for exhibition at the ‘Selected Artists’ in the open selection category, Eigse festival, Carlow, 2004.

Commenting on her Geomorph Series of paintings the art writer Niamh Ann Kelly said: "The constancy of the curve in art and design, a primitive form in many senses, is at the same time a definitively modern statement in a stylistic sense, which Megan has pushed even further through her use of solid sections of colour, greeting each other on the truly serene surface of her paintings."

Megan O’Beirne has also had solo B&W photographic exhibitions on the theme of James Joyce in Dublin Central Library, Ilac Centre, Dublin, 2004; The James Joyce Centre, Dublin, 2003/4. Her solo exhibition on ‘James Joyce in his Urban Context’ is scheduled for the Sala in the Quarantotti Gambini Library, Trieste, Italy, in October, 2004, as part of their centennial celebrations. Her work is currently included in the biographical interactive at the James Joyce Exhibition, National Library, Dublin.

Collections: OPW, Painting, 2001. Photographs, 2004. Private collections in Ireland, Britain and Spain.
